Forte Rose Resort
Rose is a small fishing village at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor.
In the past, Teuta boats, Venetian galleys, Venetian sailboats, Turkish ships and Austro-Hungarian ships have entered Rosa. Rose is the oldest port in the Bay of Kotor and on the entire coast of Montenegro. They were also known as ship quarantines at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor during Venetian rule.
One of the interesting stories of Ross is the story of the relics of St. Tryphon.
Due to a storm in 809, a group of Venetian merchants took refuge in Rosa Bay.
The inhabitants of Kotor learned that it was a ship from Constantinople that was going to Venice, and that on board were the relics of St. Tryphon, a beheaded martyr of the 3rd century. The inhabitants of Kotor managed to buy the relics, and since then Saint Tryphon has been guarding and protecting Kotor.
The history of the ancient times of this settlement is also interesting.
Roses are mentioned in many historical writings as the settlement of Resnium in the fourth century. Previously, there was an ancient Greek settlement of Ponto Rosa. It was destroyed by the Saracens (the name of the Arabs in the Middle Ages) in the second half of the 9th century. During the Venetian rule, ships had to quarantine in Rosa, thus preventing the spread of the disease.
Ships are approaching from all directions. Roses met them at the entrance to Boka, provided security and gave permission for further entry into the bay.
In addition to the permission, there is also a blessing from the Luštica peninsula, which has twenty churches and thus justifies the epithet of the holy peninsula. Let’s mention the two churches closest to the Forte Rose resort, the Orthodox Church (Holy Trinity) from the 18th Century and the Catholic Church (Saint Carmen) from the 18th Century.
Here today you can organize christenings, weddings or other events in cooperation with us.
Today, Rosa is known as a small tourist resort with captain’s houses and palaces crowded by the sea, opposite the pier.
Forte Rose dominates and stands out in Rosa.
Once the fortress was the basis of the defense of Rosa, but today there is a need for relaxation and entertainment, so the fortress has an exclusive restaurant.
Amid lush vegetation and pristine cypresses, pines, olive trees and centennial carob trees, stone villas have been built that welcome you to their pleasant accommodation.
In addition to the villas, there is a swimming pool and a tavern in a typical stone and wood style in the ring of the fortress, an unforgettable experience for all gourmets. Below the tavern is a Saracen cellar, where today the owners keep a selected repertoire of wines and brandies made from the carob tree that has adorned the fortress for more than a hundred years. It also stores cheeses, prosciutto, olives harvested from the region and more traditional products.
Since ancient times, there have been openings here that used to be loopholes, and now provide fresh air to these rooms.
In addition to traditional lifestyle and enjoyment, Forte Rose also offers modern ways to relax and revitalize with a wellness and massage corner with sauna.
Along the entire fort, you will be guided by a path that used to be pushed by cannons, from the “pool square” and “tavern square” to restaurants, 6 luxury apartments and the “terrace of love”. In addition to the beloved “terrace of love”, which is an ideal place for weddings, the fort is decorated with a “carob tree terrace” that creates an intimate atmosphere.
Another interesting thing is the pond, where the guest can choose and catch the fish he wants to taste.
This resort is enriched with 4 beaches, two of which are reserved for resort guests, located near the fortress, and one of them is reserved only for guests of luxury apartments.
If you arrive by land, your vehicle will be safely parked in a car park with over 200 spaces.
Not far from the parking lot is Forte Rose Beach First, overlooking the healing clear sea, with a bar and beach furniture. It is 120 m long.
“Forte Rose Beach Second” is a beach that can be reached on foot from the restaurant, it is rich in vegetation, it also has a bar and beach furniture, 150 m long.
Nature, buildings, people, the sea, smells, tastes… everything points to the justification of the name Rose, which bears the name of one of the most beautiful flowers and that is why the Rose can be called the rose of the Bay of Kotor.
Welcome to Rose!
